Schiavo faced Valladares, the Republican incumbent, in November 2022.

The campaign collected endorsements from a broad range of organizations, elected officials, community leaders and labor unions. The named endorsers included firefighters, nurses, police officers and teachers, along with Planned Parenthood and the Sierra Club.

Schiavo began serving in the California State Assembly in 2022.
