Mike Gipson served on the Carson City Council before being elected to the California State Assembly in 2014. He currently represents the 65th Assembly District, which encompasses portions of the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, including Compton, Carson, Willowbrook and the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles. Before entering the Assembly, Gipson served on the Carson City Council. That council service preceded his election to the Assembly in 2014.

Gipson was elected to the California State Assembly in 2014. He currently represents the 65th Assembly District.

The district encompasses portions of the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, including Compton, Carson, Willowbrook and Watts. Carson, where Gipson previously served on the City Council, is therefore also part of his Assembly district.
